Mayor Bass announced that following the approval of the LA Convention Center (LACC) Expansion & Modernization Project, three organizations have chosen LA as the location for their annual conferences. These three conferences will bring 55,000 people to LA and generate an economic impact of nearly $100 million and deliver approximately $3.4 million to the General Fund. The Expansion Project provides these organizations the needed amount of space to host their conferences. Without the expansion, they would not be able to hold their events in LA. American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) brings 15,000 people in 2031; American Geophysical Union (AGU) brings 25,000 people in 2032; and International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Annual Conference and Exposition brings 15,000 people in 2037.
